Live in Moscow. 05.06.2012. Video made by Oleg Warvar

Motley Crue members Tommy Lee & Nikki Six talk about the craziest things they have ever seen a fan bring into a concert.

Motley Crue first came onto the scene back in 1981The group was founded by bass guitarist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, who were later joined by lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil. As you can see, over the years the band must have brought on a full time stylist.

Fan reviews – Motley Crue

“Great Show”
I went to this show thinking that I would just sit through Motley Crue waiting for Kiss to come on. However, Motley Crue was every bit the show that Kiss was. I think they might have played longer and definitely had a lot more going on in their show. Tommy’s upside down drumming was amazing. Mick Mars is still a great guitar player even though he looks like he can’t really move. Nikki Sixx looks like he is still 30 years old even though he has been dead before! Vince Neil…what can you say about a guy that breaks his foot and continues the show for 1.5 hours+ after that?! Great job guys!

Kiss. There’s nothing to say beyond it was KISS! While I don’t like that Ace Frehley is not playing with them, Tommy does an amazing job. The band has never sounded so “tight” live in concert. Remarkable really. Everything Kiss did was predictable, but it’s all what the fans come to expect. Paul flew out right over our heads. THAT was cool!
Favorite moment: Tommy’s drum solo and Paul Stanley flying out to the platform.
Opening act(s): The Treatment

“Awesome!!!”I knew this show would be good but had no idea it would be GREAT!! I love to be entertained and that’s exactly what these guys did, both, MC and Kiss!! Kiss was incredible and I didn’t know what to expect since Van Halen was such a let down and so I went with no big expectations and boy was I and my 6 friends pleasantly surprised. All the videos in the background, the flames and cannons going off and of course Paul Stanley taking flight on a high wire to a raised stage in the center of the audience…truly amazing and they sound so clear and not distorted, although MC did at times sound a bit distorted as I think their speakers were just a little too loud and drowned them out at times. You must see this show!!

Favorite moment: The finale…cannons going off, the members being raised up on scissor lifts and all the confetti shooting out of the sky!!

“Motley Rocks the joint!”Motley Crue remained true to the rock legends they are and totally rocked the house, sold out audience, played all the hits and put on an excellent show. This was my 2nd time seeing the Crue and my Daughters 1st time. Both very happy, we will see them again.

Justin Bieber is blaming food poisoning for forcing him to quit the stage for the second time during his South America tour. This time he drew boos from a huge crowd in Buenos Aires’ River Plate stadium who paid up to $320 to see their idol perform up close.

“I’m not feeling too good, I think I’m out of energy,” he told the crowd, saying he was sorry and blowing a kiss before walking off the stage with his head hung low.
Bieber posted a “selfie” photo on Twitter showing himself receiving intravenous fluids, and his manager Scooter Braun came to his defense Monday with a statement laying out a version of Bieber’s wild weekend.

Justin Bieber Argentina

Braun said Bieber’s food poisoning was so severe that he spent eight hours on an IV drip before Sunday night’s show, and doctors advised canceling, but that the young star didn’t want to disappoint his fans.

The concert began at 4:30 p.m., but all the warm-up acts had come and gone by the time Bieber finally felt well enough to go onstage after 10 p.m., an hour and a half later than scheduled. He then performed for “nearly an hour” before he had to give up, Braun said.

Braun also tweeted a message saying his charge “had a rough night but handled it like a man who cares and put his beliebers before himself. very proud. he will be back!”

Neither statement from the manager made mention of the trail of troubles Bieber’s tour has left in its wake, and Braun did not immediately respond to a detailed request for comment about them.

The 19-year-old star also walked off the stage in Brazil, ending a concert early after someone threw a plastic bottle at him, an unverified photo circulated on the Internet purportedly showing him crashed in bed and Brazilian police tried unsuccessfully to question him about defacing a public building with graffiti, a crime that carries a year’s prison sentence.

In Argentina, wild girls caused such a ruckus outside the Faena hotel that Bieber had to leave. He then flew to Cordoba for a Friday night concert, and still had enough energy to take his entourage to a Buenos Aires nightclub early Saturday morning.

Justin

A paparazzi videotape shows Bieber’s bodyguards leaving the Ink club after daybreak Saturday, hustling someone out under a black sheet into one of two vans loaded with young girls. The bodyguards can then be seen chasing down and assaulting the nightclub’s house photographer, Diego Pesoa, and damaging his camera.

According to an account he gave the website ciudad.com.ar, the photographer’s lawyer, Matias Morla, accused Bieber of approving the assault, and said his bodyguards also illegally entered the club’s security area to review videotapes of the incident. He said he obtained a court order barring the guards from leaving the country.

After police tried to question the bodyguards at the second hotel, the entourage relocated yet again, to a private property inside a gated community north of the capital, reported Telam, Argentina’s state news service.

Morla did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but federal police confirmed that Pesoa’s formal assault complaint is being investigated by federal prosecutor Dora Olivieri. A request for comment left by The Associated Press with her office also was not immediately returned.

Anyone get burnt on Craigslist with ticket sales? I have heard from so many people that purchased Kanye West tickets on Craigslist. You may or may not be aware, Kanye West cancelled his show in Vancouver after cancelling his shows in Vancouver, very last minute.

Those who purchased the tickets directly from Ticketmaster will be receiving full refunds however those who purchased off Craigslist will be out of luck. Although, at times Craigslist offers amazing deals, it does not and will not ever offer any form of consumer protection. In this case, those who purchased tickets off Craigslist will be left without a refund. Which, in my eyes is unfortunate and also tough luck.

As a smart consumer I truly believe purchasing tickets through a regulated source is important. With http://www.discountticketservice.com patrons will be receiving full refunds or credit for alternative events. No one is being left out to fend for themselves.

Try and not purchase tickets from an unregulated source.

STRENGTHS

Vancouver – The Canucks have been playing well at home, finishing with eight victories in their last nine games while holding their opponents to just 10 goals. Even better, goalie Cory Schneider, whose availability was still in doubt Sunday, has won eight straight at home with three shutouts and seven goals against. The penalty killing vastly improved during the last month of the season, killing 40-of-43 opposition power plays, two of the goals coming in the last two meaningless games. The blue-line corps, with the exception of Chris Tanev, is healthy.

San Jose – The Sharks were almost unbeatable at home as they went 17-2-5 and out-scored their opponents by a whopping 73-49 margin. They thrived under their one goalie system of Antti Niemi, who posted 24 of the team’s 25 victories. They are also superb on faceoffs and led the Western Conference with a 53.4-per-cent success rate.

WEAKNESSES

Vancouver – The Canucks’ third line has been a conundrum all season and remains so heading into the playoffs. If coach Alain Vigneault deploys centres Derek Roy and Ryan Kesler on the same line, then his third-line options are low-scoring Max Lapierre or career minor-leaguer Andrew Ebbett, unless they opt for wild-card Jordan Schroeder. And then what does Vigneault do on the wing? Both Mason Raymond and Zack Kassian enter the post-season ice-cold offensively and neither can be considered proficient defensively to be used in a checking role. Faceoffs have been another season-long problem for the Canucks. Manny Malhotra, their best, was shut down after nine games due to vision issues and Kesler, their next best, missed 31 games due to injury. The Canucks have been eaten alive by the Sharks in the circle in head-to-head meetings, winning just 77 of 181 draws, or 37 per cent. Life is difficult when the other team begins with the puck more than you.

San Jose – The Sharks’ biggest dilemma is finding offence beyond their big four of Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture. Coach Todd McLellan has been so desperate for help up front that he’s moved six-foot-five defenceman Brent Burns to right wing. The Sharks are also a lousy road team with just eight victories (8-14-2) and they gave up considerable size at the trade deadline by dealing away Douglas Murray (six-foot-three and 245 pounds), left winger Ryane Clowe (6-2, 225) and centre Michal Handzus (6-5, 215).

BREAKING IT DOWN

* For the Canucks to win: They’ll need their power play, which has been thriving of late (25 per cent the last 12 games) to continue to produce.

* For the Sharks to win: Score first. The Canucks haven’t displayed much come-from-behind ability this season.

Vancouver Canucks Win Against Nashville Predators 7-4

Andrew Ebbett and Jannik Hansen both had a goal and two assists as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Nashville Predators 7-4 on Thursday night.

Alex Edler, Mason Raymond, Max Lapierre, Henrik Sedin on a penalty shot, and David Booth, into an empty net, also scored for the Canucks, who won their second straight. Roberto Luongo finished with 29 saves.

Ebbett, who has split time this season between Vancouver and the minors, got his first goal for the Canucks. Hansen’s three-point night was the first of his NHL career, which began with 10 playoff games in 2006-07.

Matt Halischuk, Nick Spaling, Mike Fisher and Gabriel Bourque scored for the Predators, who outshot the Canucks 33-22.

Vancouver led 3-1 after the first period and 5-2 after the second.

All the goals came at even strength as Nashville was 0 for 4 on the power play and Vancouver went 0 for 2.

Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne came in with two shutouts in his previous three games. However, Ebbett – recalled Monday from Chicago of the AHL – opened the scoring 1:25 into the game after Hansen stole the puck from Nashville defenseman Scott Hannan behind the net and sent it out front. The goal ended Rinne’s even-strength shutout streak at 186 minutes and 21 seconds.

Rinne was partly to blame though as he decided to leave the puck for Hannan instead of clearing it.

Halischuk tied the score 1-1 about 2 1/2 minutes later as he jammed in his own rebound.

Edler put Vancouver ahead less than two minutes later on a slap shot following a faceoff. Raymond made it 3-1 with just under 2 minutes left in the first period as he one-timed Ebbett’s cross-ice pass. Hansen also assisted on the goal.

Luongo preserved Vancouver’s lead as he stopped Nashville captain Shea Weber on a one-timer with just over 4 minutes left in the first.

Lapierre increased the Canucks’ advantage to three goals 5 1/2 minutes into the second period as he scored on a breakaway coming out of the penalty box. He took a stretch pass from Dale Weise at Nashville’s blue line and beat Rinne with a shot through the legs.

The goal ended Rinne’s night as coach Barry Trotz pulled him in favor of Chris Mason. Rinne allowed the four goals on 12 shots

Just 29 seconds later, Spaling reduced Nashville’s deficit to 4-2 as his goal-mouth pass went in off Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa.

However, Hansen restored Vancouver’s three-goal lead at 13:48 of the second period.

Vancouver’s two second-period goals came on only four shots, while Nashville unleashed 12 at Luongo.

Fisher pulled the Predators to 5-3 as he beat Luongo with a backhand from the slot at 6:38 of the third. Martin Erat had a chance to close the gap further midway through the final period, but fired the puck way over the net while looking at an open top corner.

Bourque drew the Predators within a goal at 15:21 of the third, but Nashville’s comeback hopes were short lived.

Sedin deked Mason on a penalty shot just more than 2 minutes later after the Canucks captain was hooked on a breakaway. Then Booth scored into an empty net when Lapierre decided to pass instead of shooting.

The goal came shortly after both Lapierre and Booth hit the post with the Nashville net empty.

Justin Bieber booed after arriving two hours late for London concert

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber faced a backlash on Tuesday after being booed by a London audience for turning up on stage around two hours late, leaving thousands of young fans waiting.

The main attraction of the Monday night concert at London’s O2 Arena was due to start at 8.30 p.m., but according to music critics and angry fans the 19-year-old teen idol did not get going until 10.22 p.m.. Many fans, some of them as young as five years old, had gone home by the time Bieber began while others voiced frustration.

Many fans voiced their frustration at having to wait, while others reacted angrily to the headlines.

Bieber’s visit to Britain has probably not been his best.

On March 2, the day after he turned 19, he tweeted “worst birthday” amid reports some of his entourage were turned away from a London nightclub because they could not supply adequate proof of their age.

Working it in Vancouver like the rent was due yesterday.

Alicia Keys working it in Vancouver like the rent was due yesterday.

Now that all is said and done I must say, Alicia Keys lived up to my expectations.

She is an amazing charismatic individual. I was not a big fan of Miguel but Alicia Keys deserved to be the headliner. From the moment Alicia stepped on stage, I knew the night would be special. It was like visiting a friend at her home. Alicia Keys was humble and gracious as always. I believe she sang almost every song she ever recorded–All with new, more heart felt twists. You could close your eyes and remember the young, raw Alicia Keys, but know that you were seeing and hearing the evolved, mature woman she has become. All the while knowing she never forgot her roots.
If you missed this show, you missed a moment in time that can never be repeated—Let’s see what happens in 10 more years!

What is Foodie Card? Can I benefit from it?

What is a Foodie Card?

Vancouver’s newest Diners Club Card

Bringing you 2 for 1 meals or 50% OFF the food bill at all of our partner restaurants.

The My Foodie Card Story:
I first heard of Foodie Card via a Groupon special. The offer was approx. $40 for a one year membership with Foodie Card, the regular price was $99. A 2 for 1 deal or 50% off is a great deal, but I thought to myself, ” is there a catch?”

Upon checking out the Foodie Card website I found a free 2 week trial period. I took advantage of the trial period and waited for my card in the mail. I was very pleased with how quickly it arrived. However that is where my excited derailed.

I used my Foodie Card at Left Coast in Kitsliano (www.left-coast.ca) The menu looked great; the atmosphere was really nice as well. One of the few negative factors was having to listen to the owner of Left Coast talk about his failed relationship. It really detracted from the romantic evening I was trying to have. Not only that, the restaurant was poorly ventilated and I found myself eating in a cloud of smoke from the kitchen. When finished my meal I went to utilize my Foodie Card and the owner of the restaurant was not sure how to process a Foodie Card transaction, this resulted in a 10-15 minute delay in having our bill processed. This upset me, as I called in advance to notify the staff that I was a proud Foodie Card holder and this was my first Foodie Card experience. The owner of the Left Coast responded I was also his first Foodie Card holder and he did not know how to process a Foodie Card transaction. Instead of taking time to understand the promotion, while I ate, he was complaining to another patron regarding his past relationship.

It was very embarrassing to fight with someone to use my Foodie Card. I finally told the owner to charge me a specific dollar value and if this value was to low he could charge my credit card for the difference. This was a very poor first experience.

My next experience was at Vera Burger on Boardway near Granville St. I visited this specific location as the Foodie Card announced this location as their newest participant. Upon arrive, I was told that their computer system was not set up to accept Foodie Card holders at this time. Which contradicted what Foodie Card had told me. Instead of giving me 50% off they stated that they cannot give me a discount and that I needed to pay full price. What a joke! Being hungry I did however pay the full price.

My following Foodie Card experience was at Vera Burger again. This time I called in advance to ensure the program was fully up and running and that I would not get scammed again. I was surprised that the staff did not ask to see my Foodie Card, rather just took my word I was a cardholder. Not only that, but when they processed the bill they charged me full price and tried to convince me that the price was in fact correct. I am sorry but 50% tax is not correct. Finally they corrected the issue, but had I not noticed I would have once again been overcharged.

The end result:

I cannot recommend Food Card to anyone. On paper, it sounds like a good idea. However in reality, the card was more of a headache. I should not have to fight to receive the discount associated with the card. It is possible to save money with Foodie Card; it just depends on what you value more, money or your time. I think I may have become a Foodie Card member to soon. The number of restaurants participating is very small and it just has not taken off yet, in my opinion. It is a company that I would come back to at a later time, but right now I just do not see the value in Foodie Card.

The Grey Cup is returning to Vancouver.

A CFL official declined to make comment about the 2014 Grey Cup game.

It will mark the second time in four seasons that the CFL’s title game will be played in Vancouver. The 2011 contest was held at B.C. Place.

LifeStrength Bracelets are just one of a number of energy, balance, and strength-improving pieces of jewelry that hit the market in recent years. They say that by wearing the bracelet you’ll experience increased levels of energy, balance, enhanced Chi, life force, and more. But can something that you wear on just one wrist provide better balance, or is this all just a lot of speculation?

Overview
Bracelets like these have been around for about the last five years. The first to come out was the iRenew, which promised increased energy. Of course these companies always add a celebrity athlete endorsement to try and make it seem like they know some secret that the average person doesn’t know. Some of these bracelets say they use magnets, but LifeStrength Bracelets are different, their claim mostly involves ions.

The Claim
LifeStrength Bracelets talk about negative ions mostly, but also they include the use of minerals and gemstones. Their slogan is “the vitamin you wear” so the basic claim is that their bracelets, watches, and other products are enhancing your life the same way vitamins would.

They bring up the term anion a lot. An anion is simply an ion that has more electrons than protons, which will give it an inherent negative charge. It is up to you to decide whether this company really does create products that are developed at the proton level. You must further decide whether or not this charge lasts indefinitely, will still be there once you receive the product, and will remain there after daily use.

They also use the term nano, saying that they crush the mineral particles into nano sized bits. We’re skeptical of any company that brings up nanotechnology as a buzzword for why the product works. Crushing something up into small particles is one thing but to say that these are nano sized particles would require them to have very sophisticated machinery to handle things on that small of a scale.

When they explain how it works, they say that anions permeate the skin and get absorbed into the bloodstream. They then get to work at the cellular level in your body. They even say that it works on mitochondria, and specifically helps maximize serotonin levels. The net result from all of this is increased energy.

The Hype
The hype comes from the fact that nearly all of the technology that is mentioned in the development of LifeStrength Bracelets is on the invisible level. There’s no way to tell by looking at it whether or not it contains negative ions or nanotechnology. And even if it did contain what they say it does there’s little evidence to prove that wearing the bracelet on your wrist will help ward off positive ions or other toxins in the body.

The Cost
To get started with LifeStrength Bracelets you’re looking at about $30 plus shipping. Some of their more expensive products, such as MyID Band, can cost anywhere from $60 to $200 and up. This price is on par with competing bracelets that make similar promises.

The Commitment
They are meant to be worn 24 hours a day so you just have to put it on once and forget about it. That’s part of the draw, since it has a very low commitment level for the user, so it attracts those that want to invest little time in improving their health and well-being.

Evaluation
I personally was very sceptical, but was won over quickly. I cannot say if the band was responsible for my amazingly positive state of mind, high energy levels and much much more. All I did know, is that I did not want to take off the band, in fear of losing the amazing feeling of power and strength.

I recommended it to my girlfriend, who rolled her eyes….. until she tried it out. We have since upgraded our bands and we are very happy with our purchase. My girlfriend has the slim Pure Series band, and myself the MyId Band.

In conclusion, I recommend these products. So much in fact that if you like us on Facebook you will be entered to win your own MyId Band.

Kobe Japanese Steak and Seafood House

In January, we were looking at the social shopper website for some ideas and savings. Kobe Japanese Steak and Seafood House was listed on there and with neither of us having ever eaten there before, we decided to buy it. The deal was a meal for two. We finally found time to use this promotion and boy, was it a real disappointment and probably one of the weirdest experiences ever. If you eat here, keep your jacket and wear one that you wouldn’t be afraid of stinking up from the aromas — this restaurant is COLD!

Once we entered the restaurant, there were stairs right in front of us leading upstairs and an alcove on the left. Having never been to this restaurant before, we weren’t quite sure where to go or how the restaurant worked. Standing there for a few seconds while the host just looked at us without offering assistance, we decided to turn left. The host asked us whether we wanted to eat upstairs or downstairs and not knowing the difference, we decided upstairs. The waitress asked us whether we wanted to leave our jackets with the coat service and we declined. The waitress then sped up the stairs and disappeared without any regard for her patrons. Under the dim lighting, the waitresses all looked the same and blended in with the patrons and decor. She finally made she contact with us, guiding us to our seats. She then abruptly left without offering to bring us a beverage. We were lucky enough to flag down another waitress and decided to tell her that we had purchased the social shopper deal, at which time she told us that we were supposed to be downstairs. She brought us downstairs and told the host that we’re supposed to be downstairs. The host then rudely told us “next time, you should tell us so it doesn’t cause all this trouble”. Under what circumstances would a host be justified in saying something like this to a patron? Here’s an idea: put it on the social shopper instructions!! At the first chance I had I told the server I had a Social Shopper deal, it’s not like I was hiding this information.

We discovered that upstairs is the teppanyaki area and downstairs is the izakaya with a different menu. Once we sat down, we were brought our menu and got to select 6 appetizers. We figured out which ones we wanted and when the waitress came by to take our order, she informed us that the short ribs were sold out….well, that sucks because it was one of the ones we selected. One of the other items we ordered was the spicy dynamite roll. Since my girlfriend is allergic to avocados, we asked them to substitute cucumbers instead. The waitress said she needed to check with the kitchen and came back to inform us that they can’t do that because the kitchen makes several rolls in advance. What’s wrong with telling a customer something like this? One, we’ve been to many restaurants and made the same request. Each restaurant is more than happy to accommodate the dietary restriction without so much as a hesitation. Second, why would you tell your customers that you make food in advance and that what they’re getting is not fresh? After we expressed the fact that my girlfriend is allergic to avocados, they went back to express that it was a dietary restriction, not just a preference. Upon this request, they accommodated our request. When the menu only has about 10 or 12 items and one of them is sold out, ruling out another option really limits the choices of the customer. It’s not like we were asking them to substitute something of significantly greater value for something else….

The food: not bad but not worth $80+ (As advertised on Social Shopper). These are items that are designed to be starters/appetizers. One of my pet peeves is when restaurants don’t disclose that they garnish onions, green onions, garlic, and parsley on their foods. My reason for this pet peeve is that my girlfriend is allergic to most of these items and we have to manually pick off these garnishes which are usually finely chopped/diced. These are the items we ordered:

Ebi Mayo: green onions garnished on top, which sucks because we did spend a fair bit of time picking out the green onions. This item came last, which also sucked because we were too full to enjoy them all. The batter and mayo sauce were delicious and deep fried to perfection.

Spicy Dynamite Roll: after the fuss surrounding the avocado, the roll didn’t have any greens in it after the waitress said “we can do that, it’ll just take a bit longer because they have to make it” to the cucumber substitution. It was literally seaweed, rice, spicy sauce, and shrimp tempura. When this arrived, I wasn’t quite sure whether this was because they genuinely made a mistake or they were thinking “after that table made our lives difficult, let’s just not include any cucumber or avocado and laugh at their reaction”. I’ve never had this roll with the rice inside and the seaweed outside.

Sashimi: DELICIOUS! I can eat this all day every day!

Chicken Karaage: I loved how it was deep fried to perfection, once again. The sauce drizzled on top wasn’t too bad. I believe it was a teriyaki sauce.

Spicy Tuna Roll: finished this like nobody’s business. It went perfectly with everything else we ordered and it had just the perfect amount of spiciness.

Calamari: YUM! The batter was perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. And, like all the other items, it was deep fried and delicious!

After we ate as much as we could, we just relaxed and talked a bit (maybe 20 minutes). I will not soon forget the snarky comment that one of the waitresses made “enjoying the movie date?” My thoughts were “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that the flat-screen you had hanging on the wall wasn’t for customer entertainment.” It is very cheesy to have a TV playing a movie without audio and without subtitles, if anything it was a distraction.

There’s a fine line between good customer service and harassment. When you ask a table how they’re doing 4 times in 5 minutes, I consider that as “you’ve been here long enough, time for you to leave”.

Rating: I usually rate restaurants based on whether or not I will return and how long before I return. This restaurant, while the food was good, is a solid 4 out of 10. I can get the same food at other places for the same price, much better service, less attitude, and a warmer venue. My girlfriend and I were joking that this place would only receive business so long as it continues with its participation in a “special deals” program.

If you absolutely insist on eating at this restaurant, click here to visit their website. Please feel free to comment on this post with your own experiences at this restaurant. We’d love to hear from you. We also hope that your experience is better than ours!

Blues legend B.B. King to make return to Richmond

The immutable Ambassador of the Blues is returning to Richmond.

B.B. King, 87, will appear in concert at River Rock Show Theatre on March 8, 2013.

Ranked sixth on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, King has released over 50 albums throughout a recording career that began in the late ’40s.

“The Thrill Is Gone” is among his most famous songs, a list that also includes No. 1 hits “Three O’Clock Blues” from 1951 and “You Don’t Know Me” from 1952.

BB King is a fierce performer dedicated to the stage—playing an average of 275 concerts each year with his famous guitar Lucille. He was last in Richmond one year ago for a concert in front of a full house at River Rock.

King’s trophy case includes 15 Grammy Awards and memberships to the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Born Sept. 16, 1925, King grew up on a Mississippi plantation playing on street corners for dimes. In his early 20s, he hitchhiked to Memphis, Tenn. to pursue his music career. He caught a break in 1948 performing on a radio program which led to steady gigs in town.

King went on to create his own vision of the blues in hit records and developed one of the world’s most identifiable guitar styles.

At his Richmond show, expect to hear all his classics, including “Payin’ The Cost To Be The Boss,” “Caldonia,” “How Blue Can You Get?” “Everyday I Have The Blues” and “Why I Sing The Blues.”

Seating Options in Rogers Arena - Canucks Game

Many people are intimidated by the sheer size of Rogers Arena and do not know where to sit. This is understandable. Tickets are not cheap so you want to get the best bang for your buck!

If you want to sit in the lower bowl, I suggest corners and center ice rows 9 and above! This ensures that you have an unobstructed view!

If you want upper bowl, anywhere is good. Don’t think you are cheaping out. There are no bad seats in the house. When sitting in the upper bowl, you get a great vantage point to watch the game. Unlike many venues, Rogers Arena does not have “nosebleed” seats.

If you really want to know what the vantage point will be like, Discount Ticket Service has a fully interactive seating chart online which will allow you to see the exact view from your potential seats! Game on!

Here’s what other people are saying.

“Careful if your seats in the lower bowl corners. Those sections have one continuous row of about 30 or 40 seats.”So if you’re in the middle of that row, and you’re a frequent ‘pee person’, think about that.”

“I like the upper bowl! Loud fans and great view of the whole ice rink overall.”

“If you can get into the Centre Ice Club (Brewhouse) the view is pretty rad. Great food and service too.”

“Row 1 right next to the visiting team’s penalty box. You really begin to appreciate how fast the game really is from those seats. ”

“In terms of the best viewing experience, you can’t beat the upper bowl.”

Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake @ BC Place

Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake @ BC Place

Looks like Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are teaming up for a tour that could take them to Vancouver’s BC Place this summer.

On Thursday, photos of a series of stadiums popped up on Jay Z’s website all with the hashtag #LegendsOfTheSummer. BC Place was one, along with Toronto’s Rogers Center and several American venues.

The superstar rapper and Timberlake have hinted at a joint tour when they performed together at the Grammy Awards this winter  and the pair have been confirmed as headliners for the Wireless Festival in London this July.

The news isn’t official yet, but fans are already buzzing on social media about the possibility of the two musical giants stopping by Vancouver.

Canucks vs. Stars

What a great game, despite Hansen’s controversial and unreasonable one-game suspension as a result of his unintentional contact with Blackhawk’s Hossa during Feb 19th’s game! Not only did we get to watch Kassian dish it out to Roussel, we gave the Stars a taste of their own medicine by winning the game and ending our losing streak.

Periods 2 and 3 were non-stop action. The Stars put up a furious fight but the Canucks didn’t back down. Both teams played at the top of their game. Hamhuis suffered from a painful hand injury which showed bruising within minutes but he stayed in the game, icing his hand between shifts on the bench. Schneider had a great night blocking 22 shots, several of which were HUGE saves. Was I the only one laughing or did you also chuckle a bit when the Canucks ran down the clock on the last powerplay of the third period?

Congratulations to tonight’s 3-stars: Alexandre Burrows (Canucks), Jamie Benn (Stars), and Henrik Sedin (Canucks)!

Qoola - Frozen Delight! Great Pre-Event Snack

Qoola Frozen Yogurt Bar (Metrotown, Burnaby)

Qoola Yogurt & Fruit is a popular frozen yogurt joint with locations around the Lower Mainland. I highly recommend Qoola for a pre-event snack; it’s great because it’s nice and light.

Similar to Menchies, Qoola is a self-serve establishment where you choose your flavor of fro-yo and pick as many or as few ingredients as you like. They offer a varied selection of toppings including fresh fruit cut every morning and gummy bears. Your bowl is charged by weight so be careful if you have a heavy hand! Make sure your eyes are not hungrier than your stomach or pocket book.

Qoola only serves genuine frozen yogurt made from 100% natural ingredients and packed with live and active cultures. With its creamy texture and sweet ‘n’ tangy taste — you’d be happy to learn it’s fat-free, gluten-free, and certified kosher frozen yogurt. Not into fro-yo? Try one of their organic whole grain waffles (Wannawafel) or signature crepes, which are both made from scratch.

You can feel good about frequenting Qoola as the company is proudly Canadian and supports fellow Canadian producers and vendors. Additionally, it’s an eco-friendly shop where they maintain a constant initiative to reduce unnecessary waste by offering biodegradable, compostable and recyclable products.

Check it out the next time you’re craving a light and tasty treat! On my recent visit today, there was a promotion in which my Qoola was free with the purchase of a $20 gift card! Since I’d be going back there again, I couldn’t go wrong.

Pennywise comes to Commodore Ballroom on February 21st

(Limited Quantity of Tickets Remaining)

On November 1st, Southern California’s raucous punk heroes Pennywise announced the return of the band’s original vocalist, Jim Lindberg.

The band had this to say about Lindberg’s return, “We’re happy to announce that Jim is rejoining Pennywise and we’re all looking forward to playing music together again. 2013 will mark the band’s 25th Anniversary.

Formed in the South Bay of Los Angeles, a neighborhood with a rich punk rock history, Pennywise began in 1988. The band would go on to amass an international following through relentless touring and a melodic high energy sound merging melodic surf punk, blistering hardcore and the classic punk of their youth. The group has solidified their place in punk history with songs like the raging “F*** Authority,” “Alien” and the band’s now legendary ode to brotherhood and departed friends “Bro Hymn.”

With two instant sell out shows at the Legendary Hollywood Palladium scheduled for January 18 and 19, Pennywise are set to tour the west coast in February and March!

Hockey fans are familiar with the terms “enforcer” and “goon.” They’re reserved for guys on their respective NHL teams you, quite frankly, don’t want to mess with. They’re guys that play tough defense and aren’t going to back down. And of course, in the goon’s case, they play the role of enforcer and the guy that protects the star player of his squad.

But is all the violence in hockey necessary? Sure, checks and bumps are part of the game, but blatant, malicious hits, particularly to the head, aren’t always enforced –even in a more concussion/brain injury conscious sports world. I truly believe that tonights game was to violent. 3 fights in one game, in a matter of minutes…comon guys!!

Don’t forget that you are role models for young players in the minors and WHL. Play the game, fighting isn’t hockey..

Hockey is a great game, but do we really need fighting when there’s mixed martial arts and boxing that has that stuff sanctioned in its own venue? Do we need an outcry or something really bad to happen for the NHL to be like the NFL and make a judgment on what’s a dirty hit or what’s not? Arguing “that’s the way hockey’s always been” shouldn’t be valid in 2013 when sports and brain injury research continues to evolve.

Do you think hockey is too violent?
